BETWEEN DESIRE FOR DEMOCRACY AND CRITICAL APPRAISAL OF THE PERFORMANCE OF THE POLITICAL REGIME

Résumé :

Les données quantitatives et qualitatives montrent que  la cohabitation du désir pour la démocratie et l’appréciation critique de la performance fonctionnelle du régime politique  constitue l’un des traits distinctifs de l’abstentionniste critique ;  Ces évaluations négatives de la manière dont le système politique fonctionne en pratique, constituent l’un des indices de l’existence d’une forte incongruence entre l’offre institutionnelle en termes de liberté et la demande culturelle de ce groupe d’abstentionnistes pour la liberté. Cette situation tire son explication de la difficulté du système politique à répondre aux nouvelles exigences de ce profil de citoyens et non dans une subite et radicale dépolitisation de ceux-ci. Ce travail qui a porté sur un échantillon représentatif de 1300 enquêtés, dans deux écologies différentes (Rabat-Salé et la province de Boulemane), a été mené dans le cadre de la combinaison d’une approche quantitative et qualitative.

Abstract:

The quantitative and qualitative data show that the coexistence of the desire for democracy and the critical appreciation of the functional performance of the political system constitutes one of the distinguishing features of the critical abstentionist; These negative evaluations of how the political system works in practice, constitute one of the indications of the existence of a strong incongruity between the institutional offer in terms of freedom and the cultural demand of this group of abstainers for the freedom. This situation derives its explanation from the difficulty of the political system to respond to the new demands of this profile of citizens and not in a sudden and radical depoliticization of these. This work, which focused on a representative sample of 1300 respondents, in two different ecologies (Rabat-Salé and the province of Boulemane), was carried out as part of the combination of a quantitative and qualitative approach.
